Although topics such as digital transformation and artificial intelligence often dominate the (professional) media, a lot of manual labor is being done in the procurement and finance departments of large companies.

For example, only 1 percent of corporates receive and process all invoices fully automatically, without any manual intervention. And at one fifth of large companies, there is still no fully automatic processing of invoices at all. This has consequences, ranging from invoices being paid late en masse to maverick spending becoming a problem for many.

These findings, and more, are the result of independent research conducted by DirectResearch among more than 200 finance and procurement professionals from companies with at least 500 employees.
